When I purchased my Chevy Bolt I also bought a ClipperCreek HCS-40 charging station. I had heard from a friend about ClipperCreek and that was the station she had purchased for her Chevy Volt. One thing she sold me on is how easy it was to install and to use the product. Doesn’t have wifi or need a special app. I like that. I’ve had this station for a few years now and it’s always worked like a charm.
My wife and I recently purchased a Nissan LEAF for her to drive, so now we have two cars to charge. We had been taking turns on the charger, which was tricky at times, especially with our full schedules. There were times where we both wanted to charge at the same time.
I decided to check out ClipperCreek’s website to see about getting another charger. And there it was, they just introduced their new HCS-D Dual charger. What? I couldn’t believe it. Not only do they have a dual charger, but they have this program (Trade-UP! Program) where they will buy back your old charger for up to $250 which goes towards your new dual charger order. Sounded good to me!
The dual station arrived quite promptly, just like the other one did. It was so easy to install. Goes right up where the previous one was. It’s only 2 screws. I have had this unit for a couple of months now and it is just as dependable as the one I had before. Thank you ClipperCreek. Two happy EVers here!
User Reviews of the HCS-D
Upgraded from an HCS-40P (NEMA 14-50) after we got a second PHEV. The flexibility of this EVSE is great! If both vehicles are plugged in, each can use up to 16 amps, or one can use 32 amps if the other vehicle’s battery is done charging. It’s nice to not have to swap the cord back and forth between vehicles and even though both of our current PHEVs only take a 3.3 kWh charge rate, this is future-proof for vehicles that can accept a higher charge rate. This unit also “clicks” quieter than the single cord HCS-40P, which makes me think Clipper Creek is always looking for ways to improve their already fantastic products. By the way, the “Trade-Up” program was fast and simple—just send your qualifying model back in the box the HCSD-40P comes in. Don’t forget to look into tax credits too! Very well-made, handsome unit. By the way, my office installed Clipper Creek units too (probably because they are the best)!
Fast to install, power whip is a good length.
After speaking with the team at ClipperCreek, the HCS-D40 Dual charging station was the best fit and it’s working like a charm! Aaron at Phil Haupt Electric did a great job on the installation and had us up and running in just a couple of hours. Now we charge both cars at the same time without a problem!
Took advantage of the ‘Trade-Up’ program with Clippercreek for the Dual charging station. Works GREAT! Looks GREAT! And the best part is the family can charge our vehicles at the same time – no longer having to wait in line’. Super awesome – Thanks Clippercreek!

Industry Reviews of the ClipperCreek HCS-Dual EV Charger
As electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles become more prevalent, it is not uncommon for a single household to have more than one vehicle that needs charging. Enter ClipperCreek’s HSC-D40 Dual Charging Station. This is a charger that is hooked up to a single circuit and can charge two electric cars simultaneously. It comes equipped with two 25 foot cables and two J1772 Chargers. It has the ability to smartly sense and divide the charge equally if both cars are calling for a charge. Or it can send the full power to one if only one EV is calling for a recharge.
