Our Review of the PowerCharge EV Charging Station
User Reviews of the PowerCharge EV Charging Station
I installed this a for our new Chevy Bolt. I’ve only used it twice since I usually charge for free at work, but I’ve had no issues. It’s solidly built and much slimmer design than a lot of the competition. Since I knew it wouldn’t get too much use, I wasn’t looking for a lot of bells and whistles like WiFi – I just wanted a basic solid charging station.
I also looked at Clipper Creek, but saw this had the same specs for about $200 less. Made in USA, 3 year warranty, and comes with a nice holster. The 25-ft cord and holster worked out great, especially if you need to run the cord away from the unit — I have it mounted to a 2×4 hanging from the ceiling. I also like that it has configurable charge rate (16A, 24A, 32A), though I don’t need that now.
Install was easy since I already has my 6-50 outlet ready (and like any 32-amp charger, it should be on a 40 amp breaker), but be aware you do need a Torx T20 driver. The unit slides on to the mounting plate and is secured by a Torx screw, and you can add a padlock if you need more security. It has a very short cord (needs to be mounted right above, or above and to the left of the outlet), but that’s really not a complaint.
Love everything about our new PowerCharge Charging Station. It was easy to install and use. Love the 25ft cord length. It allows me to charge my car at various places in our garage and driveway. I had a question about scheduling charges so I called customer service and both Wendy and John went out of their way to answer my questions. A quality product, backed by quality people!
Using to charge my 2013 Chevy Volt daily. Works perfectly, every 3 weeks or so. The indicator light would go red and stop charging. I would have to cycle the breaker to reset the charger.

I installed this EVSE charger for our 2019 Chevy Bolt EV. During the last week I was able to test the 3 charging modes provided by the Bolt – instant charging, departure time charging, and utility rate based charging. It performed flawlessly. In all cases, using the Bolt options, I set the maximum allowed charge to 85 or 90% of full charge.
We love the small outline and low profile. Unlike most of the other chargers we looked at, this one only extends out a little over 3 inches and has a separate holster for the J1772 plug. The installation is much less intrusive into our garage. Since there is a provided cover for the J1772 plug, we just hang the cable over the charging unit and do not use the holster.
The unit is manufactured by LITE-ON Technology Corp in China. They appear to be heavily into commercial charging stations. The quality of the design shows the professional quality of the organization. They provided UL certification.
On the negative side, why 4 stars instead of 5, the documentation I received was quite sub par. It was not professionally done and the operation instructions were omitted. The diagram showing the meaning of the various lights was not included. Fortunately, I was able to obtain a full set of documentation from customer support that the manufacturer had generated. During the pre-purchase period I had several conversations via Email with the supplier. They were all quickly responded to.
Note this is a dumb charger with no WiFi connection. However there is no need for a smart charger of WiFi connection when charging the Bolt. All of this is provided by the car.
